This is what we’re all about.
Our mission is to build a community to which residents, visitors and investors are attracted; Promoting that community, Striving to ensure future prosperity via a pro-business climate; Representing the unified voice of the employer community; and Reducing transactional friction through well-functioning networks.
According to Websters, a community is a group of people working together. I believe our community is what Mr. Webster had in mind. We are in a unique position. Some might say that we are at a disadvantage because we are not like our neighboring towns. Our layout is not conducive to window shoppers and foot traffic. Perhaps this perceived disadvantage is actually our community’s advantage. Because of this perception, I think the businesses in our town have a deeper understanding of the value of our customers. We have a lot of great businesses that people use, not out of convenience, but because of the connections that we make. Our Chamber is dedicated to enhance this connection between the businesses and our community. While a chamber of commerce is essentially a business oriented organization, I feel the deep roots we have here gives us a step up from the “shop local” mantra. We are a true community chamber. I have had the privilege of working with our Chamber for several years.
The Directors are an eclectic group that I am thankful and proud to be part of. Selflessly, they devote their time planning and doing things to make our town better. These long hours they put in are worth it when more connections are made and our town prospers. While we will always push to do more, we look back to see how far we’ve come. The hard work that our Chamber has done like our Street Fair, Halloween Party, and Tree Lighting have become part of our town’s tradition. With all the talk about that other election, somehow I became our Chamber’s new President. I can assure you that there was no outside influence. To be able to work with our community on this level is both an honor and a privilege, and I hope to continue to build on the foundation that has been set.
